Texans make 4 cuts, save $8 Million

On a day in which they lined up a visit with free-agent linebacker Zach Thomas after the Indianapolis scouting combine, the Texans saved more than $8 million under the salary cap by releasing center Mike Flanagan, tight end Jeb Putzier, linebacker Shawn Barber and center Drew Hodgdon. Jerome Mathis will also be cut because of legal problems.
