- The new sheriffs in town (Bill Parcells and GM Jeff Ireland) aren't wasting any time. Green hopes to play football again, but hasn't received medical clearance. He could resurface in Baltimore or St. Louis as a backup. Booker is still a solid pro; he was just overpaid. Other released 'Phins include T L.J. | Rumor is that The Panthers will also cut or trade Deshaun Foster. - Quote :
- RB DeShaun Foster
Reasons to cut him: Foster still hasn’t recorded a 1,000-yard season and posted only one 100-yard game in 2007. On top of that, he averaged only 3.5 yards per carry, which ranks among the worst in the league. Meanwhile, reserve DeAngelo Williams averaged 5 yards per carry. Also, cutting Foster would result in an immediate $4.75 million in salary cap savings.
Reasons to keep him: Foster ran hard at times and is full of potential. The thinking is Foster could be a very good running back if he has a good offensive line to run behind.
My take: To some fans tired of Foster’s consistently average production, this might be an easy cut, but the reality is GM Marty Hurney and Fox really like him. I think the Panthers will hold on to him for awhile -- at least until they determine whether or not they can upgrade at running back with a free agent running back like Michael Turner or Julius Jones. Free agency begins Feb. 29. http://www.carolinagrowl.com/Read.aspx?Story=492 | |

| They're going to need every penny to rebuild too. IMO, they should cut Z. Thomas and gain even more money. Then they can attract some younger players with more upside ahead of them. (aka Chad Johnson, a good corner, another LB) | |
