| http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/content/sports/epaper/2008/03/17/0317dolphinsforweb.html It really seems like he is trying really hard to be the starter this year. I have seen many many articles and interviews of John Beck (especially since I'm a Dolphins Fan) and he really seem to want to compete for the job and isnt expecting to be given the starting job. He knows he has to win the starting job and I think he will. If Miami gets him a respectable offensive line and some weapons throw to he WILL look like an actual QB in the NFL. | |

| I've said it 100 times that Beck reminds me too much of Charlie Frye. (same jersey number even) I hope though that I'm wrong, because he does seem like a good guy, who really puts the work in to try improving. With the horrible line they had last season, anyone would look bad though, I give him 1 more year to prove himself. | |

| http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/gunnsmith/75243?rss=1 I didnt realize this but Beck scored the 10th highest score (34) on the Wonderlic test last year which means he is smart enough to play the position. He was rated as the most accurate QB in the draft too. So he does have the tools but he just needs a team around him (like every other QB in the League).
Beck has also gained 16 LBS this offseason so far (and he isnt on the JaMarcus Russell Diet either, lol). That would put him up to around 221 LBs. On ESPN they said he is looking pretty good in his offseason workouts so far. They said he has been out there everyday working out trying to improve himself.
I bet you can't name 1 QB in the league that has been sucessful that doesnt have a team behind him.
Lets look at the starting QBs: Sucessful: Tom Brady: great weapons, great O-line, good run game, good defense Derek Anderson: Good WR (Edwards, Winslow) Good Run game, Good O-line Ben Roethlisberger: Good O-line, Good WR/TE, Great run game, young Carson Palmer: Decent O-line, Decent Run game, Great WR Philip Rvers: GREAT run game, Good weapons (chambers, GAte, LT) good O-line, young Jay Cutler: decent O-line, decent run game, good WR's, young Peyton Manning: Great O-line, Great WR/TE, Good Run Game David Garrard: Great RB's, Decent WR, Good O-line Tony Romo: good O-line, Great RB/WR Eli Manning: Good WR/RB good O-line Donovan McNabb: Great RB, decent WR, good O-line Brett Farve: Good O-line/WR/RB Drew Brees: Good WR, decent O-line, Good RB's Jeff Garcia: Good O-line, decent WR's (Galloway), Decent RB (better whne Williams is Healthy) Matt Hasslebeck: Good O-line, Good WR, Good RB
Strugglers: JP Losman: decent weapons (Evans), Decent Line, good run game Chad Pennington: Good Line, Bad Run Game, Decent weapons (Coles, Cotchery) John Beck: Bad Run Game (when brown was injured), Lost WR weapons (Booker, Ginn) O-line stinks, young Steve McNair: Decent Oline (OLD) Not the greatest WR, good Run Game Brodie Croyal: Good Run Game, decent o-line (OLD) bad weapons (other than Gonzo), young McCown/Culpepper: decent Run game, not good WR, not the greatest o-line Vince Young: decent/good RB, NO WR, decent O-line (might be a sucessful one but not IMO) Matt Schaub: no RB, decent Good WR, not the best O-line Jason Campbell: good RB, okay line, WR could be upgraded, young Rex Grossman: No RB, Decent WR, okay line Jon Kitna: O-line Stinks, RB not the greatest, Great WR Tavares Jackson:Great RB, Decent WR, Great Oline, Young Harrington/Leftwhich: Bad o-line, Decent RB, No WR help David Carr: okay o-line, No RB, Decent WR's (smith) Matt Lienhart/Warner: okay O-line, Great WR, Decent RB (Matt is young) Bulger/Furotte: Bulger (injured) decent o-line, Good RB, Good WR Alex Smith: NO WR, good RB, not the best o-line, young
not one of the successful QB's don't have talent around them. Beck Will be fine if he gets talent around him. i think ginn will be great next year with brown and parcells is upgrading the line already and should do more in the draft. | |
